Most Memorable Celebrity Guest Star Cameos in The Office
Over the show’s nine seasons, we’ve enjoyed seeing new yet familiar faces partner with our favourite paper supply company employees. Celebrity guest cameos have given fans unique moments, bringing fresh energy to an already perfect show. Some appearances stand out amongst the rest and have left a lasting and memorable impact for me:
RICKY GERVAIS
Having one of the briefest celebrity cameos on the show, Ricky Gervais appearing as David Brent is still a personal favourite of mine. As a fan of the British version of the show, I was hoping to see a crossover of some sort and am so glad that we got it. We got a taste of what a Michael Scott and David Brent duo looks like, and all I can say is I need more! Our two favourite bosses complement each other very well, possessing the same odd humour that makes everyone else feel hilariously uncomfortable. What do you think, would you like to see more of the American-British dream team?
I feel Bob Odenkirk’s role in the final season as an office manager at another company slips a lot of fans’ minds regarding the best celebrity cameos, but I personally loved this one. It’s cool to see Odenkirk feature in this sort of role as he auditioned for the part of Michael Scott before Steve Carell had been perfectly cast. If Michael Scott was not played by Carell, I think Odenkirk would have given us the next best portrayal. Plus, seeing Saul Goodman in the world of The Office is cool.
Many tried, but no one could fill the shoes of Michael Scott as manager of Dunder Mifflin Scranton. Ferrell’s DeAngelo Vickers did have a stint in this role, though I believe his character brought a fresh and unique energy to the show, which was needed after the departure of the show’s most integral character. From his mystifying juggling act to the slam dunk that left him brain-dead, Will Ferrell gave us some good laughs when we needed them most.
