Dunder Mifflin Festive Favourites

The start of December? The start of November? Anytime after August? The beginning of the festive period is subjective amongst different people, however, one thing in this life is certain: it is appropriate to start watching The Office festive episodes all year round! These classics are some of the best episodes the show offers, so in the spirit of Christmas (it’s not even Halloween), I present my top three Christmas episodes.

3) “Classy Christmas” (Season 7)

For me, this Christmas special is brilliant as we see a chaotic Michael Scott in full flow as he attempts to impress the love of his life Holly by completely scrapping the existing party for a much classier affair. Michael is walking about as ‘classy Santa’ wearing a red velvet blazer and flat cap Santa hat, looking as sophisticated as ever. This alongside Jim being tormented by a revenge-hungry Dwight, as well as the anticipation that is building surrounding whether Michael and Holly will finally get together makes for a truly unforgettable Christmas in Scranton.

2) “A Benihana Christmas” (Season 3)

Michael is flawless in this 40-minute masterpiece. It revolves around the office manager trying to bounce back from his inevitable break-up with Carol by taking some of the guys to Benihana for an ‘eventful’ lunch. Back at Dunder Mifflin, Angela’s rigid party-planning antics bring the unexpected duo of Palm and Karen together, making things a little awkward for Jim. This episode is ultimately made by a plethora of 10/10 Michael Scott moments, including one of the most iconic the show has seen:

1)   “Christmas Party” (Season 2)

Being the first Christmas we witnessed in Scranton, this episode is very memorable. I remember watching this episode for the first time and being so incredibly excited for the 7 seasons I had to look forward to, as this amongst what I had already watched was pure gold. We see Michael Scott at his best as he ruins Secret Santa within the office, after giving Ryan an iPod and then receiving a homemade oven mitt from Phyliss. We witness a tantrum for the ages, as he enforces the idea of "Yankee swap" to claim a better gift. The chaos ensues even further as 15 bottles of vodka end up being supplied for the office party, topping this episode off and making for some fantastic festive viewing.
